The Old Church of Mother of God of Częstochowa and the Na Pęksowym Brzyzku Cementry.


The Old Church of Mother of God of Częstochowa was built by Sebastian Gąsienica Sobczyk in 1847 and rebuilt a few years later by the prist Józef Stolarczyk. The interior is richly ornamented with various folk paintings and sculptures from XIX century. Just next to the Church there is the antique Gąsienices’ Chapel , built in 1810. Even nowadays, every Sunday, the Old Church is open for all worshippers and tourists. The Cementry Na Pęksowym Brzyzku got the monument status in 1931. Most of the graves there are the masterpieces of such artists as: Władysław Hasior and Antoni Kenar. Among people who lie there are famous artists, writers, sportsmen, mountain guides, like: dr Tytus Chałubiński, Kazimierz Przerwa Tetmajer, Jan Krzeptowski Sabała, Antoni Rząsa, Stanisław Witkiewicz, Kornel Makuszyński, Maciej Sieczka, Helena Marusarz, Jan Długosz.
